MORE ABOUT THE LA 3-D CLUB AND ITS UPCOMING FESTIVAL

Every year the LA 3-D Club (SCSC) presents a film festival to showcase independently produced stereoscopic 3-D films from around the world. This year marks the 8th Annual LA 3-D Movie Festival, to be held on May 14-15 ( www.LA3DFest.com ).

“Hollywood studios aren’t the only ones producing 3D movies. The LA 3-D Movie Festival
showcases independent 3-D movies made by filmmakers from all over the world. These
creative 3-D filmmakers have developed their own solutions to produce stereoscopic motion
pictures that frequently are more innovative than the work of the big studios.” – Ray Zone
The LA 3-D Club (Stereo Club of Southern California) was established in the Greater Los
Angeles area in 1955 by a dedicated group of 3-D stereo photographers to further

Synopsis
In LA Country, there are approximately 80,000 homeless and transient people. Skid Row is a 50-square-block area in downtown Los Angeles that is home to many of them. More than just a place, it’s a way of life, a mind set–the last resort of those who have given up on society and, in many cases, themselves.
In the feature documentary, “Skid Row,” Pras Michel–one third of the successful hip-hop band The Fuguees–lives on the streets of Skid Row for nine straight days and nights as a homeless person. The entire time, he and his crew are undercover, using surveillance cameras. His journey is a difficult one, riddled with hunger, exposure to the elements, criminals, drugs and danger. It is also life-changing: Pras learns not only how to fend for himself, but discovers the dark, very human and, at times, humorous underbelly of Los Angeles.

Watch the Trailer…
Special Thanks to Rob Wisdom and Mara Abrams for making this happen

UPDATE 5/6: Over $1021.14 raised! (Plus addition matched: $2521.14!)
Andrew McGregor, of the Tiziano Project & LA Chessboxing, replied:
“Thank you, Tuxedo Tyrants! Besides your generous donation, I also received a matching donation of $1,000 from a donor and another person pledged $500 after seeing the event.
The Tuxedo Tyrants event and the subsequent ‘Fast Company‘ article helped validate chessboxing as a business venture so I turned it into an LLC after the event! Once implemented, 75% of our chessboxing revenue will go to Tiziano, especially when grants and philanthropists are hard to come by.
In conclusion, I see this event as being an awesome morale and community booster, and spurring the launch of a business that should provide hundreds of thousands of dollars to Tiziano over the next few years.
Bless you!”
UPDATE 4/23: Event is sold out. If you RSVP’d, an email will soon be going out with the fight location. If you didn’t RSVP, the post fight Bar Crawl is open to all: We’ll be at the first bar by around 11pm.
***
Since 2008, The Tuxedo Tyrants have dressed up in their fanciest garb and descended on numerous Los Angeles neighborhoods, with their saucy behavior and tall tales of their exploits.
In an effort to win back some community karma – while still infusing their legendary brand of fancy hedonism – the Tyrants now team up with local charitable organizations to throw fancy fundraisers. After our last adventure, we woke up with 100 aching heads, as well as almost $1000 raised for charity. (Full story here…)
On April 23rd, the Tyrants take to the streets once again, this time starting their escapades in a gritty Venice warehouse, where the night begins with a national Chessboxing fight followed by a barcrawl around the localy vicinity. All proceeds will go to The Tiziano Project, which teaches citizen journalism in war-torn regions of the world.
The Tuxedo Tyrants: Chessboxing for Charity
