False Prophets and Being Willing to Look Inward

I just watched Kumaré and it’s a thought provoking and wraps up with a simple yet compelling take away 🙂 Plus it is pretty hilarious too! More info: “Kumaré is a documentary about a man who impersonates a wise Indian Guru and builds a following in Arizona. At the height of his popularity, the Guru Kumaré must reveal his true identity to his disciples and unveil his greatest teaching of all.” You might find a better quality version on Netflix but here’s a free version…

Kumaré was a great compliment to another documentary I watched recently which considered whether Jesus lived in India during the ‘lost years’ of his teens and 20s. What was most interesting about that film was less about whether or not Jesus had travelled to India to learn about Hinduism and Buddhism, which still remains unresolved, but how many people strongly reacted to the very discussion of the topic. Many people rejected the very notion, by saying things like “What difference would it make anyway?”. I don’t know. Maybe being willing to consider something like that could add a little more tolerance to your faith? After all, didn’t Jesus preach to love thy neighbor? Oh well! It’s funny how simple lessons tend to get more complicated when religion gets involved. Anyway, you can watch that one for free too if you’re into the topic: “Jesus in India”.
