From Ithaca to H+ Summit to Mindshare to Christmas!

December was a wild ride! Right after Thanksgiving with the family at my sister Victoria’s Wild Things Sanctuary in Ithaca, I returned to LA an ran the hugely successful H+ Summit. We got almost half a million online viewers throughout the weekend!

Of course the Tuxedo Tyrants continue to rage on the streets of LA!

I took my sister to Joshua Tree and it was a little colder than expected!

CauseItsMyBirthday.com Raises Close to $20K!

CauseItsMyBirthday.com was a huge success – we raised almost $20k for malaria! Our NP partner, NettingNations.org, agreed to take no administration fee for facilitating the charitable delivery! Soon after returning we threw a Masquerade Mindshare that showcased Google Wave, Fashion Design, Fire Tech, Sexy Video Games and Light Art! Soon after that Mindshare Labs had 16 installations at LACMA’s MUSE Halloween costume ball! November has been a welcome month of more calming endeavors, like local hikes and preparations for a 2010 South America trip.. Even November’s Mindshare was logistically simple in our beautiful new venue – the Downtown Independent. Now to my sister’s wildlife sanctuary in Ithaca for a quiet Thanksgiving, when I return, the H+ Summit (which I’m helping organize) is going to be a blast!

From Burning Man to Saving Lives!

The summer came and went, punctuated by pool parties, Mindshares and of course Burning Man to seal the deal. Mindshare is beginning to spawn numerous events around the city, some clad in tuxedos, some surrounding bonfires. Seedlings have left the LA area entirely and one is beginning to take root in NYC, having formed a close bond with an event called Lucid NYC. As the 2009 summer ends, so does my 20s – and what better way to celebrate my launch into maturity then with a 7 day, 7 city, 7 fundraiser party for malaria? Why? Cause Its My Birthday (dot com)!! Spread the love, not the malaria 😉

Mindshare Continues to Grow

Mindshare is well into it’s second year, gathering close to 400 attendees monthly at it’s 5th venue, and is beginning to become a full time endeavor. We’re currently incorporating as a non-profit entity and will soon be creating a membership model. We have some big plans for Mindshare’s future, although I still occasionally dip back into web project management when I need some salary buffering 😉 The other project that is exciting me is Mindshare Labs; our interactive installations continue to attract attention and engage audiences around the country, from LA to NYC. We may even get our own gallery space soon! You can join our mailing lists here. Of course all work and no play makes Dougie a sad boy – so last month I, together with my fellow Epicureans, slipped off for a little adventure to the Eureka dunes of Death Valley. Bring on the summer!

Tacos, Baja and Vipassana 2.0

After creating Taco Havoc for Halloween, I finally said goodbye to a hellish end of 2008 with an EPIC adventure to Baja, Mexico. 2009 blasted off in LA with unparalled energy; the majority of my time spent on a ‘so far sold out in ’09’ Mindshare. Another exciting development has been the creation of Mindshare Labs, a group of highly talented techies and scientists who create interactive installations for Mindshare and other events. On a personal level, February was a cleansing month: I completed my 2nd, 10 day Vipassana sit, did a 14 day Master Cleanse and gave a lot of possessions away to charity! And of course no winter would be complete without a little snowboarding 😉 Now I’m sitting in Dallas, getting ready to attend SXSW
